The Friends of Library of Newtown Public Library have been offering a book sale twice a year for more years than The Friends can remember.
But that event may be coming to an end. "The drop off spot at 291Aronimink Drive in Newtown Square is no longer available to us because the owner of the property is putting the house on the market and moving," the co-chair of the sale Dorothy Elicker told us. The garage at this location has been the storage and sorting location for the books for many years. The group typically starts on the next sale as soon as the previous sale is completed.
After their February 5 – 9 book sale, the Friends will need another location in order to plan for the August Sale.
The Friends is an all volunteer not-for-profit 501c3 organization that raises funds to be donated to the library and offers entertainment and education programs. The Friends provide funding for nearly all of the children’s programs. The semi-annual book sales are the reason why the Friends have been able to provide funds to the library that support purchases, including computer equipment, DVDs, and additional books, beyond what the library budget allows.
Please let The Friends of Library know if you are aware of any space they may use by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Friends want the library to be the best it can be.
