When the bell rings at the end of the day, school children go this way and that, hitting the football fields, art studios and music rooms. After-school activities are a great way for your kids to make new friends, learn teamwork, and stay mentally and physically active beyond the classroom. The schools of Marple Newtown School District as well as other youth organizations in the area, offer numerous clubs throughout the year to engage students. There’s something for everyone. Marple Newtown Recreation provides various extracurricular activities for Marple Newtown’s kids of all ages and adults too. Educational programs include create-your-own video game and SAT prep classes. Recreational programs feature youth wrestling, junior golf and flag football. The recreation center also holds field trips and community events throughout the year.
Recycling Club at Paxon Hollow Middle School goes green every day. The Recycling Club helps students, teachers and faculty learn more about recycling through awareness and initiatives. They coordinate a recycling program that offers recycling for juice boxes, plastics, bottles, even cell phones.
Tiger Music at Marple Newtown High School offers several programs for students interested in music. They can become a part of the marching band and color guard, play at football games and participate in community parades, while the choirs and orchestra perform in concerts throughout the year.
Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania (GSEP) serves over 41,000 girls ages 5-17. GSEP has a wide array of leadership programs for all types of girls, whether she wants to take a field trip to another city, build a website, or help run her troop’s yearly cookie-selling business.
Boy Scouts of America offer Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Venturers learning experiences all about the great outdoors, from camping and hiking, to taking care of the land. Members will study wildlife and learn about nature.
