April 3-9: Scenes From Marple Newtown Patch
The South Marple Little League Parade began at 8 a.m. at the Lawrence Park Shopping Center.

Little league baseball is officially underway in both Marple and Newtwown townships.  The season started the same way in each locality with a parade of players dressed in team caps and uniforms, coaches, parents and siblings.  There were even a few family pets on hand for the events.

The South Marple Little League parade assembled and started  from the Lawrence Park Shopping Center at 8 a.m. on Saturday and the line of march ended at the league's playing fields just below Loomis Elementary School's backyard playground.

The Newtown Edgemont Little League parade started at 9 a.m. at the Stratford Friends School at Bishop Hollow Road and Route 3/West Chester Pike and ended at the league's playing fields about a mile away.

The parades are annual events with hundreds of people marching behind police and fire department vehicles with sirens basting. Patch visited the start of each parade to make this week's Viewfinder gallery.

About this column: Every week, Patch will produce scenes from around the Marple Newtown area through the lens. So if you see us, smile! Related Topics: little league parade and viewfind
