Blotter: American Flags Thrown on School Grounds, Mailbox Explodes, More

BROOMALL–On Sept. 5 at approximately 12:35 p.m., a man came into the Marple police station to report damage to his vehicle, which occurred the day before in the Home Depot parking lot around 12 p.m. The man told police after he exited the store, he noticed damage to his Honda Accord, which was parked in a parking spot. According to the man, he told police he was parked towards the end of the aisle, which is in front of the contractor’s exit. The damage consisted of multiple dents to the right side, a smashed passenger’s side mirror and damage to the hood. The man told police he believes someone lost a load of merchandise, which landed on his car.
Car Window Shattered Overnight in Apartment Lot
On Aug. 24 at approximately 9:30 a.m., police responded to the Lawrence Court Apartments on 85 Lawrence Road for a reported damage to a vehicle. According to the report, the complainant stated that her vehicle was parked in the rear lot behind building E overnight. The next morning the woman discovered the rear window of her vehicle completely shattered. According to the report, police believe the window appeared to have been struck by a bat or something similar. No other vehicles were reported damage in the area.
Mailbox Expodes For Second Time in One Week
On Aug. 24 at approximately 5:40 p.m., police responded to the 200 block of Martins Run Road for a criminal mischief incident. Upon arrival, police spoke to the homeowner who told police that sometime that day, someone had used an explosive device and destroyed his mailbox, according to the report. According to the homeowner, this was the second incident that occurred to the mailbox that week. The mailbox is described as golf ball on a tee, valued at approximately $300.
Light Lock Boxes Damaged at Russell
On Aug. 23 at approximately 9:30 p.m., a representative of the Marple Newtown Soccer Club reported a vandalism incident discovered at Russell Elementary School. According to the man, two lock boxes for the light pole on the grounds of the elementary school were damaged sometime over the summer. According to the man, the club was setting up for the season and the lights have not been used nor checked in a long time. According to the report, the actors attempted to break one lock off and successfully pried a lock off the light pole furthest from the school by the houses. No damage was reported on the lighting system itself, according to the report.
Cones, American Flags Thrown on Ground of School Property
On Aug. 23 at approximately 9:20 a.m., police responded to St. Pius X School for a reported criminal mischief incident. According to the report, the principal told police that sometime overnight, traffic cones were thrown around the parking lot. In addition, the flag deposit was entered and American flags were thrown on the ground and in the bushes.
