Blotter: Tree Falls Onto Car, Hot Dog Left in Car Unattended

BROOMALL–On July 12 at approximately 10 a.m., Marple police responded to St. Pius X School for a reported tree branch that had fallen on top of a parked car. According to the report a Toyota Corolla was parked in the rear lot, adjacent to a parking island with a large tree in the middle of the island. A grounds worker told police, according to the report, that he observed a large limb from the tree fall onto the vehicle. According to the report, the window had been smashed and there was damage to the trunk of the vehicle. No injuries were reported.
Owner Gets Cited For Leaving Dog Unattended in Hot Car
On July 7, police responded to the Lawrence Park Shopping Center in the area of the Acme and Mrs. Marty’s Deli for a reported dog left unattended in a truck for at least 40 minutes. Upon arrival, the truck was located parked in one of the first parking spots in front of the Acme. A small dog was observed inside the truck and was panting and drooling from the mouth, according to the report. Police were able to open the vehicle through a window that was left partially open. The dog was monitored until the owner arrived about 10 minutes later. According to the report, the owner did not appear to be concerned that the dog was in the hot car while the temperature outside was approximately 87 degrees. The man was cited for a non-traffic citation for Cruelty to Animals.
Resident's Mailbox Gets Smashed
On June 29 at approximately 2:14 p.m., police received a criminal mischief report on the 500 block of Collins Drive for a reported damage to a mailbox. According to the report, the mailbox was struck with a bat or pipe leaving the mailbox dented. According to the report, the damage had occurred sometime overnight. No other mailboxes were damaged in the area, according to police.
