Burlap and Bean, located off of S. Newtown Street Rd./Rt. 252 in Newtown Square, is a family-owned business and is currently working on their sixth year of serving java to the Marple Newtown Patch area. From special lattes and tea infusions to sandwiches, cake pops and waffles, this coffee shop has more than just java. The coffee shop is a popular hangout for the old and young and plays host to mah jong and bridge clubs in town as well as being the local music venue in the area at night with open mics and acoustic music sessions from nationally known artists.
Burlap and Bean garnered a whopping 77 percent percent of the vote for best coffee shop, ousting popular coffee chain Starbucks who had 16 percent of the readers' vote.
