Coming Soon to Newtown Square: Primo Hoagies

The third tenant for the former Newtown Square Post Office site on Rt. 252 has been announced as Primo Hoagies.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–Primo Hoagies will now be joining Dunkin' Donuts and Smoothie King at the former site of the Newtown Square Post Office on 20 North Newtown Street Road in Newtown Square.

Both Dunkin' Donuts and Smoothie King received approval from The Newtown Township Zoning Hearing Board in August of last year after hitting a roadblock in July. But a third tenant was yet to be determined at the location.

At a Zoning Hearing Board meeting on Jan. 17, the site received approval for a special exception for its third tenant, Primo Hoagies, to be used as a restaurant that will dispense food for off-premises consumption.

According to Township Manager Mike Trio, the site is currently under construction and the tenants are expected to move into their new spaces sometime in the spring.

Smoothie King and Dunkin' Donuts have been eyeballing the space since mid-June of 2012, according to Trio.

All three businesses will be located under the same roof of the former post office site, sharing a parking lot for all three. The Dunkin' Donuts will face Route 252 while the Smoothie King and Primo Hoagies will face Munger Road.

In June of last year, the Zoning Hearing Board requested additional evidence from the developer to support the requested variances for the proposed spaces for Dunkin' Donuts and Smoothie King.

They won't last. Do they know they are only blocks from the best hoagie in the world..A Cut Above. They might want to consider that first.

Between the Wawa and these three stores, can't wait to see the parking fiasco here! Was bad enough when it was just a post office, but three stores in that space? Amazing what does and does not get approved in this town.

I purposely haven't gone in that Wawa in probably 15 years because the parking there is impossible.

I'll never understand the thinking of our township leaders: what gets approved and why. I agree with all the above; parking with be dangerous and CRAZY, unless there is more parking opening up behind the stores. So now we have at least three hoagie providers within walking distance of each other...kind of like the number of banks so close together. Ya gotta love it......

A bunch of hillbilly stooges running your town.
Word around the area is go to Newtown for a bank, hoagie and or pizza. There are more banks and hoagie/food establishments in Newtown square per square mile and per thousand/population than any other township or borough in Delaware and chester county. Freaking morons. Is milton street the mayor of Newtown square?

I have lived in this area my entire life and never heard anyone say go to Newtown for a bank, hoagie, or pizza. Plus, anything would be better in that space than nothing. The old post office always looked like garbage. Also, if anyone bothered to read about it when it got approved they are adding more parking. Finally, if you think everyone is morons and hillbilly stooges why don't you run for office there are a couple seats open in the coming election.

Please note that I did not sink to name calling; nor will I ever. I did assume additional parking would be available although I still think we have a plethora of banks and hoagies.
I like our current group of supervisors, for the most part, finally. And although I do not want to run for any office, I am a responsible resident and am quite involved. The BCs in our area who namecall and bloviate usually are those who do nothing.

Take note, there seems to be certain property owners in this town that get whatever they want. Keep watching.
