Ex-Delco ADA on Trial for Hit-and-Run Convicted of Fleeing Scene
Michael Donohue was earlier acquitted of more serious charges stemming from the November 2011 accident.
MEDIA–After being acquitted of more serious charges last week, former Delaware County assistant DA Michael Donohue was found guilty of fleeing the scene of an accident on Monday night, the Delaware County Daily Times is reporting.
Donohue was arrested last November after he hit a 14-year-old Havertown boy on Township Line Road after ordering nine drinks at a Media bar. The boy, a Haverford High School student, suffered head trauma and pelvic fractures and was initially listed in critical condition.
Though Judge John L Braxton saw fit to acquit Donohue of charges of aggravated assault and driving under the influence, the jury of seven men and five woman found the Havertown resident guilty of the lesser charge after four and a half hours of deliberation.
Donohue’s bail was raised to $100,000 cash, and a presentencing hearing was scheduled for December 20.

Yet another example of total injustice. Judge Braxton would have thrown the book at John Q. Citizen but when it comes to his own, preferential treatment abounds. Braxton could care less about the child or the family and would do anything in his power to save the ADA. Facts had nothing to do with the verdict! I certainly hope the family litigates civilly against the drunken ADA.

So ridiculous! Giving a lenient sentence to one of their own I see!
