BROOMALL–The 24-year-old ex-boyfriend involved in a February shooting that occurred at his ex-girlfriend's home on Dorman Avenue in Broomall faces a formal arraignment on April 26.
Matthew Cook, 24, of Media, was arrested on Feb. 26 for shooting off a stolen handgun at the doorstep of his former girlfriend's home on Dorman Avenue in Broomall.
Both Marple police and Newtown police responded to the scene in search of Cook, who had fled the scene after a neighbor, registered with their own handgun, approached Cook to release his 9mm Ruger.
Cook was arrested and faces nine charges: criminal attempt of homicide, aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, terroristic threats with the intention to terrorize another, possession of instruments of a crime with intent, prohibitive offensive weapons, firearms not to be carried without a license, and receiving stolen property.
Bail was set for $500,000 with no percent cash option by Magisterial District Judge Leon Hunter on Feb. 27. Cook was unable to post bail, according to court documents.
Cook's preliminary hearings started on March 8 and were continued through March 29 before Magisterial District Judge David Lang. Cook is currently withheld at Delaware County Prison. He is represented by defense attorney Nora Blair Burgess Beatty of Media.

Slight Story Correction:
Firearms are not registered in PA. In fact, firearm registration is illegal in our state.
My hat goes off to the neighbor that acted swiftly and prevented a murder. I live one street down from where this happened and I'm very glad to hear my neighbors also choose to arm themselves. Wish I knew who he was, I'd buy him a beer and treat him to the range (different days of course). Each persons safety is an individual responsibility.
