Freddy's Steakburgers' Grand Opening Is Tuesday
A grand opening for the Kansas-based Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers located on Sproul Road in Broomall will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 11.
BROOMALL–The long anticipation for the revealing of Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers is over. A grand opening will be held Tuesday, officially welcoming the community into the new establishment.
Freddy's, located at 2084 Sproul Road in Broomall, held a soft opening for friends and family on Monday. Buzzing with excitement, the crew at Freddy's were eager to serve on a rainy afternoon.
Scott Redler, vice president and chief operating officer Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers, flew in from Kansas to the Broomall franchise for the soft opening Monday.
"Our goal is to be craveable," said Redler, enthused about the first Freddy's opening on the East Coast. "After eating one of our burgers, you're going to wake up the next morning saying, 'I want a Freddy's.'"
According to Redler, there is currently one other East Coast Freddy's franchise in the works in Fairfax, VA, and another one that is open in Florida. Altogether, there are 80 Freddy's locations in the nation, mainly in the Midwest. Redler said the franchise feeds approximately 300,000 people per week.
The first Freddy's location started in Wichita, Kansas, in 2003, according to Redler. And the restaurant was named after Freddy Simon, Redler's partner's father. Simon, 87, is a WWII veteran and a purple heart recipient.
"He's really a great guy. When we opened up our first restaurant, we wanted to honor the restaurant after him," said Redler about Simon.
Redler said what makes Freddy's stand out from the competition is in the product itself. Freddy's doesn't offer just any burger. According to Redler, their steakburgers are made with 85 percent lean premium beef and made fresh on the spot.
"We have a different philosophy. Our goal is to buy absolutely the freshest ingredients. And it really does make a difference," said Redler.
