Freddy's Steakburgers May Take Over Former Arby's Site

The former Arby's location on Sproul Road in Broomall may be seeing another fast food chain take its place.

BROOMALL–Another fast food restaurant may take over the former site of Arby's, located at 2084 Sproul Road, in Broomall. According to Marple Township Manager Anthony Hamday, Freddy's Steakburgers may be the new tenant.

"We believe that they have an interest in that site," said Hamaday.

Hamaday said an official application has not yet been submitted by Freddy's Steakburgers, a Kansas-based fast food restaurant specializing in hamburgers and frozen custard.

But Hamaday said, "Right now, they're probably still dealing with the owners of the building."

According to Hamaday, if Freddy's Steakburgers chooses to use the building as it was when it was used by Arby's, a sign permit would only be needed by the restaurant.

Though many had their own opinions of what should take over the vacant building, more than a handful had vocalized their desire for a Chick-fil-A while others had hoped for something healthy.

Historically, the 2,800-square-foot building was also the home of fast food restaurant Burger King before Arby's.

According to Freddy's Steakburgers website:

At Freddy’s, frozen custard is such a signature part of the menu that it’s included in the name. But surprisingly, the Freddy’s story doesn’t begin with dessert. It all started with a main course back in the 1950’s.

Wichita, Kansas is a historical landmark in the hamburger’s march to prominence and home to WWII veteran Freddy Simon. The Freddy's savory steakburger is inspired by the 50's style staple and reminiscent of an era focused on quality, cooked-to-order meals that bring families and loved ones together.

Currently, there are no Freddy's Steakburgers locations in Pennsylvania. There are only 19 states in the nation where a Freddy's Steakburgers is located.

I would love a Sweet Greens! It stinks having to drive to Suburban Square in Ardmore just to get a health on-the-go option.

Jennifer, you can go to Salad Works in Lawrence Park Shopping Center and make your own healthy salad to go. But that's neither here nor there, Chik-Fil-A would've been great!!

What's so great about Chik-fil-a? Just a bunch of fried food like everybody else.

Not just the idea of a Chik-fil-a, but the fact that it would have been nice to have good customer service behind the window instead of BK and Arbys attitude. Fast food is the same, lets go for good workers for a change around here.

It would be nice to have Burger King back. Hopefully Freddy's is similar.

If anyone ever had a Phil & Jims cheese steak or a hogie in Parkside Pa you would want them here in Broomall. They would put all these so called steak and hogie places out of business. Nothing FRIED. There are plenty of "healthy" places in Marple Twp. But I never see those places with people waiting to get food. If you want a great cheese steak that melts in your mouth or a hogie that beats all in Broomall, try Phil & Jims
