Get Out: Early New Year's Eve Events, Burlap and Bean Double Features

Here's what's going on in and around Marple Newtown this weekend.

 

 

Are you looking for something to do this weekend? Check out these great local events.

TakeOver: NYE VIP Party - Teens Only

  • When: Saturday, Dec. 29 from 8 - 11 p.m.
  • Where:Marple Sports Arena, 611 Parkway, Broomall
  • Why Go: Teens age 14 - 19 can enjoy a night of clubbing at the Sports Arena.  There will be black glow lighting, glow stick give-aways, and the hottest hip hop/electro/dubstep/top 40 music for dancing. 
  • Cost: $20 at door

Tot Rockin' New Year's Eve Party

  • When: Saturday, Dec. 29 from 10 a.m. - Noon
  • Where: Haverford Reserve, Darby Rd and College Ave, Haverford
  • Why Go: Celebrate the holidays with your young ones at the Community Recreation and Environmental Center at the Haverford Reserve.  There will be music, light refreshments and a variety of games and activities.  Ring in the year at noon with a balloon drop.  Ages 2 - 8.
  • Cost: $10

Burlap and Bean Double Features on Friday and Saturday

  • When: Friday, Dec. 28 and Saturday, Dec. 29 at 8 p.m.
  • Where: Burlap and Bean
  • Why Go: On Friday, come out for the sounds of Drew Gibson and Anthony da Costa. Then on Saturday, listen to The Silent Signals, who will be making their first appearance at Burlap and Bean, and Chelsea Allen.  Doors open at 7:30 p.m. both nights, so come and get a good seat.
  • Cost:Friday: $8 advanced, $10 at door; Saturday: $5 cover

Festival of Lights

  • When: Nightly from 5:30 - 9:30 p.m.
  • Where: Rose Tree Park, 1671 N Providence Rd, Media
  • Why Go: Enjoy dozens of decorated lit trees and festive displays.  Bring the kids to see displays of everyone's favorite characters, Charlie Brown & the Peanuts Gang and Santa & his Reindeer.  The trees are lit nightly from 5:30 - 9:30 for public enjoyment.
  • Cost: Free
