Get Out: New Year’s Eve Celebrations

Patch brings you some of the best and brightest parties and festivals around the area to ring in 2011.

 

Should old acquaintances be forgot… It’s that time again—time to make a toast and look forward to another year. There are many events going on around town that are fun and family-friendly, too. Patch has a few suggestions for where you can toast to 2012.

1. Dinner and Dancing at Newtown Grill

Where/When: Newtown Grill, Saturday evening

Why Go: There are specials on the menu for the New Year’s celebrations like lobster ravioli, spaghetti with lump crab and grilled salmon. There will be dancing all evening. Call for reservations.

Pricing: Menu varies

2. New Year’s Eve at the Bella Rosa Ballroom

Where/When: Bella Rosa Ballroom, Broomall, Saturday at 8 p.m.

Why Go: Celebrate with appetizers followed by a full buffet, desserts and snacks, upbeat music and a champagne toast at Midnight. Black tie optional. Reservations required

Pricing: $40

3. Media Ball Drop

Where/When: W. State and Jackson Streets, Saturday at 11 p.m.

Why Go: Come one, come all to the annual ball drop in Media. It’s a “snow or shine” event. There’s live music by Philly Gumbo and the big countdown and ball drop at Midnight.

Pricing: Free

4. New Year’s Eve at the Hedgerow

Where/When: Hedgerow Studio, Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

Why Go: There will be a special New Year’s Eve performance of Sister Robert Anne’s Cabaret Class, featuring Micki Sharpe. She’ll showcase songs debuted in the highly popular Nunsense musicals.

Pricing: $35

5. New Year’s Eve Masquerade Party

Where/When: Calvary Chapel, 500 Brandywine Drive, Chadds Ford, Saturday at 9:30 p.m.

Why Go: It’s open to college students and young adults in the Delaware County area. There will be a coffee bar with grande ice half-caf triple mocha latte macchiato. Revelers are encouraged to wear a mask, sing karaoke and take pictures at the photobooth station. There will be dancing and a bonfire too.
