Gunshot Fired in Broomall Drug Bust, 10 Bundles of Heroin Recovered

The following information was provided by the Marple Township Police Department. Any arrests or charges mentioned do not indicate guilt or conviction.

BROOMALL–Two people were arrested Friday, Oct. 19, during an undercover drug investigation conducted by Marple police officers in the Lewis Building at the Governor Sproul Apartments

According to Marple Police Chief Tom Murray, the undercover drug buy was performed by the Marple Police Drug Task Force in which the dealer was to deliver packages of Heroin to an undercover officer.

"The drug deal went down and the undercover drug officer made the transaction. At this time, a uniformed officer went to make the arrest in which a fight ensued," said Murray.

Murray said the fight started inside the building and continued outside when the dealer eventually fled to a waiting car driven by an accomplice. A foot pursuit ensued by officers and a gunshot was fired by an officer in an attempt to stop the vehicle.

"The car tried to run and an officer fired one shot into the tire in an attempt to disable the vehicle," said Murray.

The vehicle was eventually stopped by police and 10 bundles of Heroin were recovered during the arrest, said Murray. The entire narcotics sting lasted approximately 10 minutes. No injuries were reported and one Newtown Township Police officer also responded to the scene.

The dealer and accomplice were identified as Timothy Barlow, 26, of Philadelphia, and Tinesha Barlow, 24, of Harleysville. An arraignment was held on Oct. 20 before Magistrate District Judge Nicholas Lippincott.

Bail was set for $150,000 each and no cash option was given to both Timothy and Tinesha Barlow. Both were unable to post bail and remain in Delaware County Prison.

Governor Sproul Apartments use to be the best place to live. As always, time and the economy lower standards and high end apartments gradually slip into section 8 culture. So glad Newtown Square will build more apartments on Rte 252. Besides adding more children to our schools, we better add more police to contend with what looks to be inevitable.

Great work Marple police. I agree with the previous comments. Governor Sprouls seemed to have higher standards but time has changed.

Delighted to hear they did not get away, excelent job! This is the type of thing that needs more press, front page, so they know not to seep in...or they will be shot out.

I find this article disturbing. A foot pursuit, the car tried to run and an officer had to blow a round at the tire to stop the drug dealer(s) from getting away? Really Marple Police Drug Task Force?
Good job, I guess?

Although the Drug bust was a success @ Governor Spoul apartments.I truly am concerned if "Safety for other innocent residence, especially with children was thought about? There was TWO shots fired...There also was a car that a guy jumped into sped off in the wrong direction ( ONE WAY entrance into Governor Sproul Apartments parking lot...U shaped... entering from Reed RD to exit at the opposite end back onto Reed RD) Children were outside that do frequent the parking lot.Whether the guy in the SUV was an agent or a criminal THANK GOD he didnot hit anyone came close to vehicles...Many lessons are learned...Fortunate for tenants and Law enforcement no lives were lost.My suggestion.Next time in pursuit of a drug bust...meet on grounds away from residential neighborhoods.Could careless if THE SCUM SELLING DEALERS GET SHOT...I also question why no mention of the Woman who fled the scene FLED for GS parking lit SPEEDING SMASHED into TWO Vehicles on REED RD and CONTINUED ON..."HIt & RUN" according to witnesses TWO gun shots were fired...She was running from the scene and being pursued...Glad she was arrested.Sorry for the Two woman getting smashed into...Thank their Lucky Stars they can still walk and talk about it!
