LA Production Company Films at Philly Pretzel and Country Squire in Marple

Film crews were seen at Philly Pretzel Factory and Country Squire Diner in Broomall on Thursday morning.

BROOMALL–Not a typical sight to see in Broomall, film crews were seen along the 2500 and 2600 blocks of West Chester Pike filming on the morning of Dec. 8.

Contrary to what Marple Township had mentioned in a work session meeting earlier this week about filming at a local pizza shop, the Los Angeles–based production company was seen filming onsite at the Philly Pretzel Factory and Country Squire Diner.

The crew began filming at the Philly Pretzel Factory at approximately 3:30 a.m. Thursday, according to Drew Wallen, manager of the Broomall Philly Pretzel Factory.

When asked what the premise of the filming was for, Wallen said it was for a TV show. And when asked why the production company chose the Broomall location for the filming, he responded, "Because we're that good."

But others had different ideas of what was being filmed at the pretzel shop. Employees at the Starbucks Coffee next door were heard telling customers it was for a TV commercial.

Though much of the crew was tight-lipped about what was being filmed and what type of filming it was for, one crew member at Country Squire Diner described the film as a "documentary shoot" and stated that much of the filming would take place at the Philly Pretzel Factory, while a scene or two would take place at the diner.

Eddie Hall, manager of Country Squire Diner, said he was contacted a few weeks ago by the production company to film at the Broomall diner. The film crew began setting up shop at the diner around 9 a.m. Thursday.

"One of the head guys came in and ate here awhile back," shared Hall. "I guess he liked the place and asked if they could film here for an hour-long scene."

Justin Steven, the production manager on site, told Patch that filming in Broomall would only be for Thursday and described it as an "all-day shoot."

Film crews were seen leaving the area just before noon on Thursday afternoon.

They wouldn't say–just that they were an entertainment company based out of Los Angeles.
