I ran Broad Street this year with my daughter, her boyfriend, and my nephew. We cruised through Philadelphia on one of its best days - 10 miles straight down the middle of Broad Street, North Philly to South, and saw the best that the city has to offer - from Mayor Nutter cheerleading at the start, through the huge variety of music and musicians, drummers and dancers along the way, the huge energy buzz around City Hall where the crowd was cheering so loudly and it echoed in the canyons of the downtown, passing and high fiving Gov Rendell - a fixture at this run - the volunteers passing out water and Gator Ade and encouragement - black, white, young, old and everything in between ... and the runners - over 40,000 people who have been training for this day, who got up like us at 5:00 a.m. and made their way to the start, and then ran 10 miles through the heart of the city to the finish line at the Navy Yard. This is America when everything is working like it should, when we are at our best, supporting and encouraging each other, running side by side towards the same goal, one nation, under God, indivisible.

I posted some videos I shot during the run - the energy bubble in Center City, the entrance to the Navy Yard, the finish line, the medals. It was a great day for everyone who made it possible - organizers, sponsors, runners, supporters, volunteers, police and ambulance crews, and the cleanup crews.
