BROOMALL–Volunteers and public service officers hit the green at the Paxon Hollow Country Club on a sweltering Wednesday afternoon to raise money for the Marple Township Ambulance Corps building project.
Approximately 10 vlunteers and 21 golfers participated in the first annual golf outing in support of the Marple EMS.
The first of, hopefully many, the ambulance corps hopes to move their newly built headquarters over to the current location of the Broomall Fire Co.
"All proceeds today will benefi the Marple Township Ambulance Corps," said event organizer and Marple EMS Treasurer Heather Robinson. "We will be happy with whatever we raise from today."
An awards dinner ceremony also took place later on in the day at the country club where a 50/50 raffle was taken to raise more funds for the building project.
According to Robinson, approximately 20 sponsors supported the golf outing, including the Bradley Agency, J&D Auto Tire and Walmart.
A highlight on Wednesday's 18-hole golf course was at the eighth hole, where stakes were high to win a free car. A hole-in-one guaranteered the golfer with a 2011 Ford Fusion, donated by Fred Beans Ford Auto Dealer.
