Marple Newtown Takes 3rd in Hi-Q Championship

It came down to a final math question for the Marple Newtown Hi-Q team.

 

Marple Newtown High School's Hi-Q team won third place this week to win the 2013 championship.

Penncrest's team beat out Haverford and Marple Newtown.

The final championship score was Penncrest 50, Haverford 45, Marple Newtown 44, according to the Delaware County Daily Times.

Hi-Q is the oldest academic competition in the country and MNHS tied for second place in the semi-finals.

Marple Newtown takes home $2,000 to benefit the student body with its third place finish.

Penncrest snatched the win away with the final math toss-up question, according to the Delco Times.

Marple Newtown’s Hi-Q team members are Tim Callahan, Ian Callahan, Karnveer Grewal, Kelsey Hoekstra, Somi Kim, Samuel Lee, Tim Lu, Sabrina Pan, Shaina Reji and Priyanga Selvakumar.
