New K-9 Police Car Funded by Donations, Gets New Paint Job
Newtown Township Police Department receives new K-9 police car through donations and painted by local auto body shop in Newtown Square.
NEWTOWN SQUARE–Back in February of this year, the Newtown Township Board of Supervisors approved the Newtown Township Police Department's request to purchase a new K-9 police car. Now, the car is freshly painted and outfitted, and ready to be used by K-9 Officer Jeffrey Johnson and Falco.
The K-9 police car, a 2011 Crown Victoria, was entirely funded by donations from the K-9 Unit's fund. In February, the fund exceeded more than $32,000 of donations from local businesses and residents. The cost of the vehicle was less than $32,000.
In addition, the costs of painting, lettering, and outfitting the vehicle was also covered through the K-9 Unit's donation fund. The new vehicle was recently taken to Cavallo Auto Body in Newtown Square for the paint job.
"They donated a brand new paint job for the car so that it would be black and white," said Lt. Chris Lunn over an email."The police department is moving back to black and white police cars and this is the first to be put in service in our fleet."
On behalf of the police department, Lunn thanked Cavallo Auto Body as well as the following donors for their support of the Newtown Township Police Department's K-9 Unit:
- The William and Deborah Davis Family Foundation, Newtown Square
- GMH Associates, Newtown Square
- BPG Management Company, Newtown Square
- National Developers, Philadelphia
- Rachel Benari, c/o Benari Jewelers, Newtown Square
- Daniel Fuss Builders, Newtown Square
- Henrietta Sedlack, Newtown Square
"Without the support of these donors, the purchase of this new police car would not have been possible," said Lunn.
