NEWTOWN SQUARE–Just one year after its grand opening last September, Blush Salon in Newtown Square is already booming with business and boasting in popularity.
Though it's only been one year since they opened its doors to the public on Sept. 13, 2011, Blush Salon won Marple Newtown Patch's 2012 Readers' Choice award for best salon in town.
The 26-year-old owner, Michele Quinn, wasn't intimidated about opening up a new salon in town, despite the handful of hair salons in the Marple Newtown area. Quinn simply listened to her heart and went with her gut feeling about the decision.
"I found this place and I just had this feeling," recalled Quinn about finding their spot at 3515 West Chester Pike in Newtown Square. "It's great to walk in here and think, this is mine."
And despite the numerous hair salons in town, Quinn believes each salon offers something different and Blush is no different. According to Quinn, from their youngest to oldest clientele, Blush Salon aims to make everyone "feel at home" and comfortable with a team of professional hair sylists who are "on top of beauty education."
Quinn, a Newtown Square native, was working at Salon Xquisite in Havertown at the time but had always dreamed of opening up her own someday.
"At beauty school, we went through this exercise where we asked ourselves where we would be in five years. I said that I'll have my own salon," said Quinn, who never stopped working even attending beauty school. She worked 12 hours every day.
The pieces soon fell into place and before she knew it, Quinn was opening up her own salon.
"I'm so passionate about it," said Quinn about working with hair. Quinn started off doing hair for friends and family and soon found herself working at a salon in high school. She continued to build and grow her clientele on the side with private hair sessions for bridal and birthday parties.
"When I meet people, I want them to feel great about themselves. It makes me want to do more. It's a great feeling when they love what they see," said Quinn. "People always told me this is what I was supposed to do."

Quinn anticipates to bring the salon to the "next level" with a Blush Color and Blowout Bar. In addition, Quinn hopes to offer onsite travel services called "Blush Unplugged" for bachelorette, bridal and birthday parties.
And in celebration of their one-year anniversary, Blush Salon is offering clients 20 percent off hair services now until the end of September. In addition, the salon offers a referral program where clients can refer the salon to as many people as they can for a chance to win free hair services for 2013.
