Marple Newtown High School held its annual post-prom party at the Upper Main Line YMCA in Berwyn June 10.

BERWYN–A committee of volunteer parents spent a majority of their Friday night prepping for an overnight post-prom party at the Upper Main Line YMCA in Berwyn.

An old tradition that dates back to since they can remember, the party was brought back to its first original location at the YMCA on Friday due to the recent renovations occurring at the high school.

"It's just to keep the kids from driving and going down the shore after prom," explained Deb Patrick, BreakFest committee head, about how the post-prom party formed. "It's just a safe place to be without having them drive down late at night."

And that's exactly what the parents decided to do this year: they brought the Jersey shore–not the show–to the students. The party included everything from boardwalk fries, hot dogs, snow cones to a soundtrack of waves playing in various rooms, beach chairs and a surfing moon bounce.

About 150 students out of the nearly 300 graduating seniors were expected to attend the event on Friday. BreakFest was held from midnight to 4 a.m., where the students were able to access the YMCA pools from midnight to 2 a.m.
