Thanksgiving Week: DUI Checkpoints in Delco

The Northern Delaware County DUI Taskforce will establish the checkpoints Thanksgiving week.

According to a press release to the media, the Northern Delaware County DUI Taskforce will conduct DUI checkpoints the week of November 19 within Springfield Township.

The press release was issued by the Haverford Township Police Department on November 16 and did not indicate at what times and locations the checkpoints will take place.

The DUI Taskforce includes four other municipalities—Haverford, Marple, Newtown, and Radnor. It has been in operation since September 2009, during which time it has conducted 36 operations. The taskforce has made 79 arrests for DUI, issued 29 citations for underage drinking, and written over 900 additional citations and warnings for other offenses.

According to the release, “the purpose of the Northern Delaware County DUI Taskforce is to save lives on the roadways and reduce injuries by aggressively enforcing DUI laws. Sobriety checkpoints are a proactive visual deterrent while also removing impaired drivers; roving patrols are traffic details with the main goals to spot and stop possible impaired drivers before they can cause harm to innocent unsuspecting motorists traveling on our roadways.”

Its a good thing Martha, but a pain in the ass for motorist,if they listed the locations, obviously drunks mite avoid them, but,ya never know, they are dumb asses for driving wasted anyway, but remember, you only need a couple every hour to fail the test, breath wise, but, first insist on field sobriety test BEFORE letting them do a breath test. They usually comply. For all the motorcyclist out there, please be careful!!! Better yet, leave the bike in the garage!! All weekend!!!
