Police: Cash, Purse Stolen in Strong-Arm Robbery in Front of Broomall Home
Marple Township Police Department reported a strong-arm robbery that occurred in front of a home on Vassar Road in Broomall on July 14.
BROOMALL–Marple Township Police Department are investigating a strong-arm robbery that occurred on July 14 in front of a home on Vassar Road in Broomall.
At approximately 5:10 a.m. on July 14, Marple police responded to the unit block of Vassar Road for a reported strong-arm robbery. According to the report, the homeowners were attacked by an unknown man when they returned home from closing their business.
The homeowners, who own a bar in Philadelphia, told police they closed the bar at the usual time and did not notice anyone following them upon arriving home. The couple arrived home around 4:55 a.m. and parked their vehicle in the driveway. When the wife was getting out of the vehicle, she was grabbed from behind and dragged onto the lawn, said police in the incident report.
The woman told police that the man grabbed her around the neck and dragged her to the ground, according to the report. Police observed the woman's shirt was torn, and dirt marks were evident on her clothing as well as change, a pair of glasses and a sneaker were observed on the ground near the passenger side of the vehicle, according to the report.
According to the report, the man had taken $2,000 in cash from the husband and a $1,500 savings bond, credit cards, cell phone and purse from the wife. The man then fled to an unknown black truck, with occupants inside the truck, that was parked in front of the home. The truck was last seen turning right onto New Ardmore Avenue toward West Chester Pike/Rt. 3.
The woman told police she was uninjured except for minor scratches and some soreness.
