NEWTOWN SQUARE–The pedestrian who was struck by a passing car that occurred on West Chester Pike/Route 3 last Friday night has been identified and issued a warrant.

The pedestrian, identified as Ann Elizabeth Muller, 31, of Newtown Square, was arrested and charged for adulteration or misbranding of a controlled substance; intentional posession of a controlled substance for a person not registered; and failure to yield to traffic, according to court documents.

According to Newtown Police Det. Joe Vandegrift, who responded to the incident, a Hyundai was driving eastbound on Route 3 when they struck Muller on the 3400 block of Route 3 in front of the entrance of Dunwoody Village. 

Muller was crossing the roadway just before 9 p.m. on Jan. 27 when she was hit by the vehicle. Muller was seriously injured and flown by the PennStar helicopter to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for facial injuries.

Vandegrift said a warrant was issued to Muller for narcotics possession and public intoxication.

In addition to Newtown Police, the Newtown Square Fire Co. and Riddle EMS responded to the scene.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Muller on March 22 at District Court #32-2-43 before Judge Leon Hunter.
