Police Nab Woman Involved in Sunglasses Theft at TD Bank

NEWTOWN SQUARE–The Newtown Township Police caught the alleged person involved in the theft of a pair of $450 prescription sunglasses at TD Bank in Newtown Square on July 30.
According to the police incident report, a woman walked into the bank with her son and proceeded to write a check at one of the counters by the front doors of the bank.
After she had written the check, the one proceeded to one of the tellers and returned back to the counter where she had written her check, only to discover her sunglasses missing, according to the report.
On Aug. 6, police for a search warrant in order to obtain the video surveillance on the day of the theft. According to the report, the video shows a woman writing a check at one of the front counters, remove her sunglasses, and proceed to the tellers counter.
At approximately 3:22 p.m., another woman with a dog is seen entering the bank and approaches the check-writing counter where she is seen picking up the sunglasses and placing them into her purse, according to the report. About two minutes later, the woman with the dog proceeds to the tellers counter with the sunglasses in her purse.
Another search warrant was filed in order to identify the woman with the dog. The woman was identified as a 65-year-old woman from Berwyn. On Aug. 26, police were able to make contact with the woman and questioned her about the theft on July 30 at TD Bank. According to the report, the woman responded, "I took the sunglasses."
The woman faces three misdemeanor charges of Theft by Unlawful Taking or Disposition; Theft of Property Lost, Mislaid, or Delivered; and Receiving Stolen Property.
