NEWTOWN SQUARE–A Newtown Square man who hired a transvestite prostitute via Craigslist had his car stolen by the same man, who then tried to sell it back to him, according to a recent release from the Newtown Township Police Department.
On Nov. 5, Newtown police received a report of a theft from the unit block of Main Street in Newtown Square. The victim told police that he had advertised on Craigslist and subsequently hired a male prostitute, dressed in women's clothing with a long, dark wig, to come to his home on the evening of Nov. 4.
The victim told police the male prostitute left his home around 12:30 a.m. on Nov. 5, but had lingered by the area where the victim kept his car keys before leaving.
On the morning of Nov. 5, the victim discovered that someone had entered his home overnight and removed a 19-inch television, several credit cards, a cell phone and approximately $200 in cash, the report said. The victim also discovered that his truck was missing from his driveway, along with two sets of car keys from inside his home.
Two days later on Nov. 7, the victim received a call from a female caller, who told the victim he could buy back his truck for $500. The victim informed police, and then arranged through the police an attempt to purchase the vehicle back from the caller.
At 4 p.m. on Nov. 7, Newtown police were conducting surveillance at the prearranged purchase site, at which point the victim received a call from an officer at the Port Authority Police Department. The officer told the victim that she had stopped the victim's truck at the Lincoln Tunnel and found the vehicle to be reported stolen.
According to the officer, the driver of the vehicle was wearing a long wig and dressed as a female. The driver of the vehicle initially identified himself as a female, giving a female name, but was identified through fingerprints as a 27-year-old male from New Jersey. The victim later identified the driver as the same man whom he had hired as a prostitute, according to the police report.
