Slight Decrease in Population Growth Predicted for Marple, Increase for Newtown
Forecasts for as far away as 2040 come from the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission.
Population growth in Marple and Newtown townships over the next three decades is expected to be less than that in the county and in southeastern Pennsylvania at large, according to forecasts by the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission.
Marple is likely to decrease 1.1 percent of its population (about 254 residents) between 2010 and 2040, compared to a 1.8 percent increase for Newtown (about 222 residents). Delaware County is expected to grow by 2 percent in that period and an overall 12 percent growth for southeaster Pennsylvania.
