Taking The Kids Out to Eat

Local moms dish about where they love to take their kids to eat in the area. Media seems to be a huge hit with local Marple Newtown moms.

Each week in Moms Talk our Moms Council, consisting of local parents, take your questions, gives advice and share solutions.

Question: Where are the best places in the Marple Newtown area–and surrounding areas–to take your kids to dinner? Any tips on dining out with kids?

Answer from Lisa Parks (mom of 1): My daughter loves Pinnochio's in Media, they give kids dough to play with while you wait to get your food.

Answer from Stacy G. (mom of 3): Front Street Fountain in Media is fantastic!

Answer from Jen Ballios (mom of 3): Front Street Fountain. They have a back room for the kids with small tables and chairs, a blackboard to draw on, and two TVs with kids shows on them. The ice cream is yummy too!

Answer from Karin Kennedy (mom of 2):  Iron Hill in Media has a good kid's menu and it's already noisy. Dining under the stars in Media is nice because you can take the kids to places you normally wouldn't and eat outside.

Answer from Holly Stupak (mom of 2): My kids love Nifty Fifty's! They love picking out different flavored shakes. I always have crayons, pens, and paper in my purse to keep them occupied.

Answer from Gina (mom of 2): Applebee's is always a good place to go with the kids–you know the there will be good choices on the kids menu. We go to Hibachi in Springfield. The kids love when they cook in front of them and we go downstairs to all you can eat sushi!

Answer from Lindsey (mom of 2): Ruby's Restaurant in Suburban Square. My kids love it, and the chicken tacos are yummy!

Answer from Bretany Pilko (mom of 2): We eat at Mrs. Marty's Deli in Broomall–Teddy loves having breakfast for dinner and Peter loves the matzo ball soup. They have music on Sunday nights. I like taking advantage of kids-eat-free promos–Barnaby's in Havertown is on Wednesday nights.  Kids eat for $1 at the Winner's Circle in Newtown Square on Tuesdays, and they have a small arcade area which the kids like. I also am a big fan of Restaurant.com.  Mrs. Marty's Deli has great coupons on there, so before running out to eat, I just buy a coupon. If you are signed up for the service you can get great deals.

On a side note: we recently ate at Applebee's in Havertown on a Tuesday night.  Peter was given a certificate for a free meal because he made the Renaissance program–a program offered through the Marple Newtown School District. We went and there was a magician who said he is there every Tuesday night.  Tuesday night their kid's meals are discounted as well. It's a great deal and fun for the kids too.
