Putting up holiday decorations can be a time-consuming process and it’s nice to get to enjoy them before they come down again, which can be an equally time-consuming process.
When I was a child, our tradition was to put up our Christmas tree on Christmas Eve, which meant we didn’t take the tree down right away. We decorate the house before Christmas Eve, but everything came down together and was put away to be stored at the same time.
Last year, we decorated and put our tree up right after Thanksgiving, so we didn’t mind cleaning up on New Year’s, since we had already had time to enjoy our decorations. This year, we didn’t get the tree up until a few days before Christmas and now we didn’t want to turn around and clean it all up mere days after putting them up. So, our tree is still up.
