1. Marple Newtown Falls Short in Nail Biter District Quarterfinals
In a game that took two days, 19.5 hours and 13 innings to reach the final result, Council Rock South won the epic 7-6 extra-inning affair over Marple Newtown in the PIAA District 1 Class AAAA quarterfinals.
2. Tigers Win Two Straight For First Time In Two Years
The Tigers beat Harriton, 14-2, driving their record to 3-4 overall and 1-3 in the Central League. This was the first time the Tigers lacrosse team had won two consecutive games since 2009, and the three victories mark the first time Marple Newtown has won three games in a season since 2009.
3. Marple Newtown Football Crushes Strath Haven / Marple Newtown is Looking to Make History
After Marple Newtown Tigers crushed the Strath Haven Panthers 24-7, they won five of their next seven games, earning a ticket to the district playoff game as the No. 4 seed against a familiar foe—hosting Central League rival and No. 5 seed Strath Haven.
4. Episcopal Academy’s Super Bowl
After Episcopal Academy beat Germantown Academy and snapped a 15-game league losing streak, they went on to face powerful Haverford School in a major rivalry game.

6. Broomall Teens to be Nominated for USA's First Curling Team in 2012 Youth Winter Olympics
Identical twin sisters Sarah and Taylor Anderson, of Broomall, recently won the Youth Olympic Games Trials on Nov. 21 with their four-person curling team in Grafton, ND. The twin sisters and their team will now be nominated to the U.S. Olympic Committee to represent Team USA at the 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games. If chosen, the members of the team will compete in the games from Jan. 13-22 in Innsbruck, Austria.

The Marple Newtown High School cheerleaders placed fifth in the Central League Cheerleading Championship this February.

The Tigers girls basketball team scratched, and they fought, but in the end Merion Mercy Academy’s outside shooting in its little bandbox gym was too much to overcome in a 54-33 loss for the opening round of the District 1 Class AAA playoffs.
