Visions for Vacancies: Carvel Ice Cream in Newtown

What would you like to see at the former Carvel Ice Cream parlor in Newtown Square?

Remember the Carvel Ice Cream shop in Newtown Square?

The ice cream parlor, one of many locations for the national ice cream chain, used to sit at the end of the Shoppes at Springton Pointe on 202 South Newtown Street Road. Businesses still located in the shopping center include Fresco Pizza and Grill and Burlap and Bean

The empty store joins another vacancy two doors down to sandwich Burlap and Bean with vacant spaces in need of new businesses.

Marple Newtown Patch wants to know what you would like to see at this former Carvel Ice Cream shop site.

Jd, great idea . A strip joimt will mix in well with a hotel on 252 and a town centre. A well meshed mixed-use planned residential development. Go to the strip joint , pick up a stripper , drive down the street to the beautiful ellis preserve town center to buy her a Gucci bag(or shot of tequila in the hotel lobby) and then get a room at the Hotel on Ellis preserve(RAVEN of media #3)!
In the AM HOURS you can wake up and walk to work at Your office in rhe beatiful ellis preserve cottages or offic buildings. Its practiced everyday today - minus the strip joint and rhe gucci bag. YEAH!!!!

Johnny, Raven motel on the Ellis preserve? I thought it was going to be a Marriott . I received a political newsletter from the republican party saying a Marriott and a supermarket was coming! Those republicans, what a bunch of stiffs. Vote for the 1/2 white guy for president!

19073 resident : Another bank ? That's funny. Nobody has any money left . Everyone overpaid for their beach houses in ocean city and the rest of the jersey shore!
That's a good one though. Newtown square. 8 banks.
1- pnc. 2-BMt 3- alliance 4- (2) citizens 5- 1st customer(Dnb or whatever it's name is) 6- Susquehanna 7- td bank
All kidding aside, I would love to see a dollar store.
Does Anyone know what is going in the old blockbuster?

Does it matter? The zoning commission and a small group of vocal residence seem to be able to make is so difficult to develop anything in our area other than a banks. So lets keep clogging our roads driving 15 - 20 minutes to KofP, Concordville, Springfield and giving them our tax money. Nice Job.

My question: Our tax money? Who's tax money? And how are you giving other towns tax money by not shopping in newtown square and clogging our own roads ?
What stores are Newtown square residents lacking that will improve their quality of life on a "DAILY BASIS"? How many people go to a gucci store everyday. There is a difference in the type of stores a community wants vs what a community needs. How many banks do we need ? How many restaurants do we need, how many bars, pizza shops , hoagie/ steak shops( can't wait for. Tony Luke's to come into Nsq shopping center)!!
We need a WAWA GAS STATION!!!!
