West Nile Cases Found in Springfield, Lower Merion

Two positive mosquito tests came from Lower Merion and another in Springfield.

 

State and Montgomery County officials on Monday reported the year's second case of West Nile Virus in Lower Merion mosquitoes, this time at the Charles C. Knox Home, a Wynnewood retirement community.

State records show the affected mosquito trap was tested June 19, the same day as a positive test of a trap in the Remington Basin in Wynnewood, which officials reported Friday. The Remington Basin is about a mile southeast of the Knox property.

In addition, Springfield Patch reported Springfield Township was also included on the state's list of municipalities whose mosquitoes tested positive of the West Nile Virus.

The Pennsylvania West Nile Virus Control Program stated 14 municipalities, as of June 25, who tested positive.
