Woman on Drugs Charged With Child Endangerment
A 24-year-old woman from National Park, NJ, was found unconscious with a 4-year-old child in the parking lot of the former Pathmark site in Broomall on Aug. 22.
Upon arrival, police located the vehicle and spoke with the 4-year-old child who stated her mom would not wake up, according to the report. Police were able to remove the child from the vehicle.
Medical personnel responded to the scene and were unable to wake the woman, according to the report. The woman was removed from the vehicle and placed on a stretcher in an ambulance. The 34-year-old woman from National Park, NJ, was transported to Delaware County Memorial Hospital.
The woman started to regain consciousness after medical personnel administered an antidote on the woman. Upon speaking with the child, according to the report, police were told by the child that her mother had slept inside the vehicle last night with another person.
The child was brought back to the police station until the child’s grandmother came to pick her up. According to the report, the grandmother stated to police that she would be taking custody of the child. According to the report, the woman has three additional children ages 7, 12, and 15, in which two are not under the woman's guardianship.
Upon further investigation, the woman told police officials she was at a function the night before and had a few alcoholic beverages as well as some Xanax.
The woman was arrested on Aug. 22 and a preliminary arraignment was held on Aug. 22 before Magisterial District Judge Robert D'Agostino. The woman was charged on two misdemeanor counts for Endangering the Welfare of Children–Parent/Guardian/Other Commits Offense and Corruption of Minors.
Judge D'Agostino set the woman's bail to $15,000 with a 10 percent cash option. The woman was unable to post bail and is currently in Delaware County Prison. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Aug. 27 at 1 p.m. before Judge D'Agostino.
