BROOMALL–Though some may have moved and recovered quickly from Hurricane Sandy, others are still living in the aftermath of Sandy's wrath. And Worrall Elementary School has not forgotton.

On Nov. 30, Worrall School Librarian Gerardine Palmer set up collection bins at the main office to send relief supplies and donations to the Gerritsen Beach Volunteer Fire Department in Queens, New York. Palmer's daughter, Megan, also volunteered to deliver the donated items.

According to Palmer, the donations were disbursed to residents of Breezy Point, New York, who are not expected to get power back on for another five months.

"After Super Storm Sandy destroyed their homes, they were so thankful and overwhelmed by the generosity of our community," said Palmer in an email to the Worrall community, "They were running low on donations, and power has still not been restored to the community."

Included in the boxes of donations were: garbage bags, masks, googles, gloves, sponges, non-perishable foods, water, Gatorade, Walmart gift cards, Lowes/Home Depot gift cards, and Target gift cards.
