Marple Newtown Presents 'Concert In The Park'

Marple Newtown School District's music program showcased their talents at their annual 'Concert in the Park' at Marple Newtown High School on May 12.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–Marple Newtown schools showcased their musical talents on Saturday night at Marple Newtown High School's gym for their annual Concert in the Park event. The district-wide concert featured performances from the Marple Newtown Elementary Band; Middle School Concert Band, Jazz Band and Orchestra; High School Choir, Indoor Color Guard, Jazz Band, Orchestra and Concert Band. Episcopal, Delco Christian Each Grab 'Cappies' Award

Episcopal Academy and Delaware County Christian School were among those recognized in the "Tony Awards for high school theater."

UPPER DARBY–On Sunday night, high school students from across the Philadelphia area put on gowns and tuxedos, walked a red carpet, and sang and danced the night away. No, it wasn't prom night—it was the Cappies Awards Gala, an awards ceremony celebrating the best of the Philadelphia region's high school theater productions. Representatives from 34 area high schools, including Episcopal Academy and Delaware County Christian School, attended the awards ceremony—designed to be like the Tony Awards for high school students—at The Upper Darby Performing Arts Center on Sunday night. MN Elementary Band Plays National Anthem At Blue Rocks Game

The Marple Newtown Elementary Band recently performs at the Wilmington Blue Rocks game and Pennsylvania Music Educators Association Band Fest at Radnor Middle School.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–Members of the Marple Newtown Elementary School Band recently performed at the Wilmington Blue Rocks April 14th game. The band kicked off the game with the national anthem. In addition, members of the band also performed at the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association Band Fest at Radnor Middle School.

MNHS Choir Hosts 2nd Annual Cabaret Night

The show will begin at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 28, at Marple Presbyterian Church.

BROOMALL–The Marple Newtown High School Choir Parents Association will host their 2nd Annual "Cabaret Night" on Saturday, April 28, at 7 p.m. at Marple Presbyterian Church in Broomall. It will be an evening of fine Italian food, featuring more than 30 musicians singing show tunes, jazz and more. Tickets are $15 each and are available online at www.TigerMusic.org or at the door. Come out and enjoy a delicious dinner and support these talented musicians. Broomall's Philly Pretzel Factory On 'Undercover Boss'?

An employee at the Broomall branch told Marple Newtown Patch Thursday that the location will be featured on the CBS show 'Undercover Boss' Friday, April 27, at 8 p.m.

BROOMALL–Remember that film crew that arrived in Marple Township last December and was spotted at the Philly Pretzel Factory and the Country Squire Diner along West Chester Pike? That mystery may be solved. The Episcopal Academy Singers recently performed at the annual InterAc Acapella Concert featuring several neighboring private schools.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–The Episcopal Academy Singers recently performed at the annual Six Pack InterAc Acapella Concert at Episcopal Academy on April 12. The concert featured the Episcopal Academy Singers, The Haverford School Notables, The Shipley Singers, and the Baldwin B-Flats.

MNHS Science Teacher and 'Domino Wizard' Robert Speca Featured On CBS

CBS' Steve Hartman features Marple Newtown High School science teacher and 'Domino Wizard' Robert Speca and the Rube Goldberg Club, a domino club at the high school.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–CBS correspondent Steve Hartman recently visited Marple Newtown High School as an homage to the late CBS correspondent Charles Kuralt’s segment of "On the Road" by revisiting some of the special places and people he visited during his time for the segment. And one of those special people that Kuralt visited was in 1983 and none other than Marple Newtown High School science teacher Robert Speca. But Speca isn't your ordinary science teacher. Speca is a special celebrity to the students at Marple Newtown and to the Rube Goldberg Club, a domino club at the high school. Newtown Library Kicks Off Spring With Art Exhibit

The new art exhibit will be displayed through the end of the month at Newtown Public Library.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–Newtown Public Library welcomes Karl Klingelhoeffer's Blessing of the Vines, Scenes from the Past, and other charming pieces for their April Art Show. Farmers truly appreciate the changing seasons. Blessing vineyards, fields, and gardens is a springtime tradition in many countries including Switzerland. Klingelhoeffer captures this custom in his charming pastel Blessing of the Vines. While set in the Swiss Alps, the piece evokes pastors and hard-working parishioners everywhere,  praying for bountiful harvests from their carefully cultivated fields.  The abstracts highlight spring and summer colors. A selection of Klingelhoeffer’s pieces is on display at Newtown Public Library through April 30. Further information on his work…
