Damp Start Won't Yield Terribly Damp Week

It's been a rainy run the past couple of weeks locally—Philadelphia has picked up over four inches of rain since August 1, with Reading and Allentown both also having picked up over three inches of rain since the start of the month.  Outside of Monday's rainy beginnings, most of the week ahead should feature rather nice weather.

Monday's damp start is associated with a disturbance that is riding along the cool front that pushed through the region on Friday night and Saturday.  Once this gets out of the way later in the morning hours, Monday afternoon should end up pretty nice.  The other potential chance of rain in the work week resides on Wednesday with a weak trough that will pass through the region and up the coast. It could trigger a few passing showers as it moves through.

Outside of Wednesday, the next chance of showers may not be until next Sunday or next Monday with the approach of a cool front from the northwest.  Temperatures this week will generally reside in the lower and middle 80's, with nighttime lows largely in the 60's after a cool Monday night.  Monday night may bring the coolest lows we've seen since late June, with lows perhaps flirting with 60.

On a daylight-related note, we lose fifteen minutes of daylight this week.  Over the next six weeks, we go from about 13 1/2 hours of day to 11 hours and 50 minutes by the end of September.  Daylight is slowly fleeting and the influence of summer is gradually waning.  Before you know it, we'll be talking about frost and then snow.
