Today is a special day in America but it is especially joyous for me because I know in my heart that I live in the best country in the world.
This was not always true for me and that is why on this special day in partiicular, I am so thankful to my father for giving me the opportunity to grow up and being able to live in this country where people are free in every sense of the word.
But today, as we contemplate on our own fortune and count our blessings, here in this prosperous land, we cannot help to feel for the people of other countries i.e. the people of Israel and the Palestinians that on this very day are fighting for survival and the peace that we all have here in the United States of America.
Yes, on this special day, people around the world are not as lucky as we are. Two hundred years ago, a new country came on the scene and since then, the United States has been a beacon of hope for mankind on earth.
It was that hope of peace, freedom and opportunity that brought my grandfather and father to this country so many years ago.
Today, just as I so many years realized that hope and that dream, I wish the same for the people in faraway lands. Today, as I sit down at the table with family and friends, I wish nothing more than for the people of Israel and Palestine to finally achieve the elusive peace that has escaped them for more than six decades.
Today, I wish peace, freedom and tranquility to all.
Happy Thanksgiving to my father, my mother and all the people of the United States and the world.
