BROOMALL–Russell Elementary School's annual Fun Fair will take place on Saturday, Feb. 23, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and promises to be a perfect Saturday of indoor carnival games and activities for anyone with kids in the Marple Newtown area. Many games were home-made by Russell parents in previous years, including small carnival games for the little ones and hands-on arts and crafts. The cafeteria will offer food, drinks and baked goods for lunch. NEWTOWN SQUARE–Newtown Township officials will be hold a special meeting on Monday at 6:30 p.m. for the township's Act 537 sewage facilities plan.  According to Township Manager Mike Trio, the meeting will be held in the Marple Newtown School Board Room, located in the second floor of the Marple Newtown School District Administrative Building, due to a conflict with the Newtown Public Library Book Sale on Feb. 4 as well. NEWTOWN SQUARE–Are you a resident or own a business in Newtown Township? The last day to enter the Newtown Square Fire Co.'s Holiday Lights and Decorations Contest ends Sunday, Dec. 16. The contest is a fundraising initiative for the fire company. Proceeds from the contest will benefit the Newtown Square Fire Company Personal Protective Equipment Fund. NEWTOWN SQUARE–Saturday is the day where the public can take a grand tour of the newly renovated Marple Newtown High School. Tours will start at 10 a.m. and last until 1 p.m. Saturday. Tours will be conducted by students ("Tiger Guides") who will take members of the community throughout the school, including the multi-million dollar project of the Performing Arts Center, science classrooms and gymnasium. BROOMALL–Save the date: the 35th anniversary of the Greek Fair in Broomall will be held from Sept. 19-23 at St. Luke's Greek Orthodox Church. The multi-day fair will include performances by local dance troupes performing traditional Greek dances, live Greek music, and, of course, Greek food. The festival will also feature a traditional flea market called the Monastiraki, gift boutiques, a coffeehouse, and a traveling Ancient Greek Museum. There are also rides and games for the kids. BROOMALL–Rise and shine Wednesday morning with a little exercise: take part in a family-friendly yoga event July 18 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park in Broomall. The community event is free and open to anyone ages 3 and up. The event is hosted by Be Loved Yoga in Newtown Square. All levels are welcome to come and parents with children will also be able to experience a few moves with their tykes. Kids sequences will also be taught for the younger yoga participants.
