BROOMALL–The Marple Newtown Combined Veterans Alliance presented a ceremony to honor the 10th anniversary of the flag raising that stands on a hill above the intersection of Rt. 3/West Chester Pike and the off-ramp of Interstate highway 476.  The flag was put up 10 years ago by Joe and John Cavallo, two brothers and Korean War Veterans of Marple Township, who wanted to do something meaningful after the attacks of 9/11.  Look for the Cavallo brothers in Patch's commemoration of 9/11 through 911 snapshots across the nation.
As the nation paused to remember the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks over the weekend, Philadelphia and its surrounding suburbs reflected as well. Click through the gallery to see tributes and reflections from this Patch and others throughout the area.

We popped into Worrall Elementary School to get some of their thoughts about 9/11. Many of the students we asked are 10-years-old, barely a year old when the attacks had occurred.  Your Kids Say is a video feature for Marple Newtown Patch. Each week, we’ll seek answers from local kids to see what they have to say on a certain topic. Our last topic, we asked kids all about ice cream sandwiches.
