Rick Santorum is Marple republicans' second choice, while Ron Paul is Newtown republicans' second choice.
Republican voters in the Marple Newtown area voted–in an overwhelming majority–for former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney as their pick to face off against Barack Obama in the November election. After a successful campaign stop in Broomall earlier this month at The Iron Shop, and with Rick Santorum dropping out from the race earlier this month, it comes to no surprise Romney was the favorable choice for Marple Newtown republicans. View a video of the recent Romney rally in Broomall here for his campaign speech, and check out some of the photos Patch took of the rally here. Note: As of 10:10 a.m. Tuesday, 58 out of the 60 machines in Marple Township were reported, according to the Delaware County Election Bureau results website. View the…

Romney finished with 57 percent of the vote, followed by former Sen. Rick Santorum at 19 percent. Santorum withdrew from the race earlier this month. Texas congressman Ron Paul finished third with 13 percent, and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich was last with 11 percent of the vote. In the U.S. Senate race in Pennsylvania, incumbent Sen. Bob Casey of Lackawanna County easily defeated Joseph Vodvarka of Robinson Township, Allegheny County, by a four-to-one margin in the Democratic primary. Vodvarka who spent the evening …

Thursday, April 12
MEDIA–With just weeks until the April 24 Primary Election, Delaware County Council and county election officials want to educate residents about the new voter ID law, which takes effect in November in Pennsylvania. Even though the law doesn’t go into effect until the Nov. 6 General Election, voters will be asked to show photo ID at the polling place on April 24 as part of a “soft rollout” of the new requirement. The Cohen family, owners of The Iron Shop, debrief of Mitt Romney's visit to their spiral staircase manufacturing plant on April 4.
BROOMALL–Although Mitt Romney visited The Iron Shop in Broomall a few years ago, Wednesday night's 2012 presidential campaign rally for the republican presidential hopeful put the local spiral staircase manufacturing company on the map. From local to national news outlets and with a crowd of approximately 500 people, it wasn't a shabby night for the Broomall manufacturing plant. "It could only help the business," said Samuel Cohen, co-owner of The Iron Shop, about all the publicity and the decision to have Romney's rally at their shop. When Romney came to visit The Iron Shop in 2008, it wasn't technically part of the original plan. According to brother Allen Cohen, the family received word that Sarah Palin was to make her stop at the shop …

My mechanic is an excellent mechanic. He's make a far better president than who we now have. Why? Because he understands his trade and he understands business and how to create 'wealth' for his family. He doesn't do any blame shifting and doesn't throw hissy fits about anything. He also respects traditional American values and customs. And I can trust what he tells me.   more ›
