Intro to Judaism Registration, Architectural Treasures Thursday in Marple Newtown

  • Government: Newtown Township Zoning Hearing meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 15. The application for Bartkowski (Billboards) will be continued until after Labor Day.
  • Learning Fun: The University of Pennsylvania will present "Architectural Treasures from the Keystone State" at 7 p.m. on Aug. 15 at the Marple Library. 
  • Religious Education: Registration opens for "Introduction to Judaism" class at Temple Sholom in Broomall. The classes, taught by Rabbi Beth Janus, will be held Monday evenings 7 to 8:30 pm from Sept. 30 through Dec. 16. Find more information here
  • Music: Blackthorn at Rose Tree Park's Summer Concert Series at 7:30 p.m. Check out the highly anticipated Celtic rock band.
  • Traffic: Check on your commute on the PennDOT traffic cameras before you leave the house. But the traffic will likely be terrible—it's traffic.
  • Weather: The forecast calls for temperatures to reach high-70s with sunny skies. Things are expected to cool down to the 50s in the evening. 
  • History: Per the History Channel, on this day in 1969, The Woodstock festival opened in Bethel, New York and in 1914 the Panama Canal opened to traffic.
