Gen. S.D. Butler MCL Detachment presents awards; receives contribution

At its monthly meeting on the evening of February 4, Newtown Square's Gen. Smedley D. Butler Detachment of the Marine Corps League presented awards to well deserving members and received a generous contribution.

A Meritorious Commendation Award was presented to Marine George Boyajian for his very active participation in the 2013 Help Us Help Others fund raising campaign which is run by the Detachment's Jr. Vice Commandant Jack McLeod. The award was presented to George, a WWII Marine veteran of the Battle of Okinawa, by Jr. Past Commandant Jim Herbst.

A Meritorious Commendation Award was also presented to Jim Donegan for his 2013 leadership of the Detachment's Color Guard. The award was presented to Marine Donegan, a Vietnam War veteran, by Jr. Past Commandant Herbst.

In addition, Steve Quinn, the Commandant of the Upper Darby Detachment of the Marine Corps League, presented Paymaster Bob Spano of the Gen. Butler Detachment with a "Thank You" check from the Newtown Square Business Association.
