The December 3rd membership meeting of Newtown Square's Gen. Smedley D. Butler Detachment of the Marine Corps League includes the annual Christmas dinner. The price of admission is a toy for the Marine Corps Reserve Toy for Tots program. Under the leadership of T4T Chairman Bob Cosgrove, the Detachment has placed in excess of 100 of the familiar collection boxes in and around the Broomall and Newtown Square vicinity. Hundreds of toys were donated by members last night. In addition, the Detachment donated $2000 to the Toys for Tots program. Present to accept the toys and the check was Gunnery Sergeant Jesus Melendrez of the Folsom Marine Corps Training Center where toys collected are categorized for distribution. This Sunday evening December 8th, the Detachment will be at St. Alban's Circle in Newtown Square collecting toys during the tree lighting ceremony.
