Marching Tigers make MNHS History

After a season of first place awards in each of the five Cavalcade competitions in which it participated, the Marple Newtown Marching Tiger Band fall field show season concluded on Sunday, November 10 at the Cavalcade of Bands Championships in Hershey Park Stadium. There they earned a score of 96.1 out of 100, a record-high score in the history of Marple Newtown. This put the Marching Tigers in second place against the 13 other marching bands in the Liberty Open Division, only 3/4 of a point behind the first place band. Further, Marple Newtown earned 5th highest score overall in the Cavalcade Championship weekend, out of 92 bands over two days performing in both Hershey and Millersville University Stadiums. Cavalcade of Bands is comprised of over 100 regional member high schools and their motto is “Education Through Musical Involvement.”

Members of the Tiger Band's senior class accepted the award on behalf of the Tiger Band. Seniors Tom Lombard and Brittany Saunders share Drum Major responsibilities. Seniors Jake Leinhauser, Eben Arnold, Sydney Williams, John Bernstein, Nayoun Ha, Danielle Redding, Sarah Rote, Zoe Werner, Jason Weitzman, Raj Patel, and Jordan Moore; and juniors Jake Rosenberg, Angel Wu, Alicia Meyers and Olivia Stepanic have responsibility as officers or captains in the Tiger Band.
