What's going on in Marple Newtown this weekend?

Are you looking for something to do this weekend? Check out these great local events. 


Annual Hanukkah and Holiday Gift Fair

  • When: Sunday, Nov. 4 from 9:30 a.m. - 2 p.m.
  • Where: Temple Sholom in Broomall 55 Church Ln, Broomall
  • Why Go: Get some early shopping done.  There will be jewelry, artwork, Judaica, books, home goods, toys, scarves, crafts, handbags, crafts for kids, a raffle and more to enjoy.  
  • Cost: Free

St. Anastasia's Ladies' Night Out

  • When: Friday, Nov. 2 from 7 - 10 p.m.
  • Where: 3301 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square
  • Why Go: Check out over 20 vendors and get some holiday shopping done.  There will be local merchants, the Newtown Square Historical Society, and home-based businesses on hand to share their goods with you.  Raffle will be held every 15-30 minutes.
  • Cost: Free

8th Annual Gala Monte Carlo Casino Night and Auction

  • When: Friday, Nov. 2 at 6:30 p.m.
  • Where: Waynesborough Counry Club,  440 Darby-Paoli Road, Paoli
  • Why Go: Enjoy a night of black jack, craps, roulette, slot machines and pocker.  There will be a silent auction, Monte Carlo prizes, butlered hors d'oeuvres, chef attended food stations and open bar.  Your ticket comes with $25.00 in playing chips. All proceeds benefit TALK Institute and School in Newtown Square, PA

New Play Festival

  • When: Friday, Nov. 2 and Saturday, Nov. 3 at 8 p.m.
  • Where: Swarthmore United Methodist Church, 129 Park Ave, Swarthmore
  • Why Go: Join Spotlight Theatre (formerly known as MN Players) for two nights of new works written by local playwrights.  Six new works will be presented over both evenings.  Friday evening will feature plays by Brian Gillin, Rene Lucas Wayne, H Bruce Warren and Albert Fried-Cassorla.  Saturday evening will feature works by Deborah Randall and Walter Vail.
  • Cost: $10

4th Annual Music & Miracles Karaoke Fundraiser

  • When: Saturday, Nov. 3 at 8 p.m.
  • Where: Casale, 191 S Newtown Street Rd, Newtown Square
  • Why Go: Enjoy a night of karaoke and dancing, hors d'oeurves, open bar, silent auction and musical wall raffle, all while benefiting MusicWorks.  Music Works provides music therapy services to restore, improve and maintain the quality of life of all individuals throughout the Delaware Valley who are challenged by autism, special needs, illness or aging.

Friends of the Library Book Sale

  • When: Friday, Nov. 2 and Saturday, Nov. 3 - Doors Open at 10 a.m.
  • Where: Marple Public Library
  • Why Go: Check out the used DVD, VHS, CD's and books for sale at the Marple Library this weekend. There is a preview sale for Friends of the Library members only on Thursday, November 1 from 6 - 9 p.m. If you aren't a member, you can join at the door.
  • Cost: Free

Delco Tech Fest

  • When: Saturday, Nov. 3 from Noon - 3:30 p.m.
  • Where: Springfield Mall, 1250 Baltimore Pike, Springfield
  • Why Go:  Bring the family for this hands-on career exploration event and explore tomorrow’s high-demand careers and technologies. 
  • Cost: Free

Cavalcade of Bands Competition

  • When: Saturday, Nov. 3 from 5 - 10 p.m.
  • Where:
  • Why Go: The Conestoga High School and the Marching Pioneers will host their Third Annual Cavalcade of Bands competition, 'Stoga Showcase of Sound, on Saturday, November 3, 2012 starting in the late afternoon and ending by 10:00 pm. More than fourteen high school bands, including Marple Newtown High School will perform on Teamer Field at Conestoga High School.  It will be an extravaganza of music and color guard performances, bringing over 1,000 people into the stands.

Women's Networking Event

  • When: Thursday, Nov. 1 at 6 p.m.
  • Where: Towne House, 117 Veterans Sq, Media
  • Why Go: The Friends of the Delaware County Women’s Commission and Delaware County Women’s Commission are hosting a free Fall Women’s Network Event.  Come mingle with friends and meet some new ones! Please bring a non-perishable food item to be contributed to the Thanksgiving Food Drive sponsored by Delaware County Council.  Don’t forget to bring plenty of business cards.  RSVP to Smith-PetteyC@co.delaware.pa.us or 610-713-2571 is preferred but not necessary.
