  • Where: Newtown Public Library
  • Why Go: Activities to celebrate snow. Best for ages 2 & up
  • Cost: Free

Lego Mania

Find out what's happening in Marple Newtownwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

  • When: Friday, Jan. 18 from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m.
  • Where: Newtown Public Library
  • Why Go: Come build with our large collection of LEGOS! There will be time for show & tell. For all ages. No registration. All ages welcome.

MN Youth Boys LAX Registration

  • When: Friday, Jan. 18 from 7 - 9 p.m.
  • Where: Newtown Township Municipal Building 209 Bishop Hollow Rd, Newtown Square
  • Why Go: 2013 Spring registration for boys K - 8th who reside in the Marple-Newtown Townships. No previous experince is required, new players are welcome. Practice begins (weather permitting) in late Feb/early March. Games are played on the weekends through mid June.

'Home for our Heroes' Fundraiser

  • Where: RP McMurphys, 2623 Macdade Blvd, Holmes
  • Why Go: A local Broomall military wife and her band, The Girls Next Door, are holding a fundraiser to raise money for a shelter in Philadelphia that houses homeless veterans.  $30 ticket includes buffet dinner, dancing, and open bar for draft beer and wine & special price of $2 for bottled beer and mixed drinks.

Babe Ruth Baseball Registration

  • When: Friday, Jan. 18 from 6 - 8 p.m.
  • Where: Newtown Township Municipal Building 209 Bishop Hollow Rd, Newtown Square
  • Why Go: For baseball players between the ages of 13 and 15 that wish to play Babe Ruth Baseball this summer.  You must have played in the area covered by Marple, South Marple or Newtown Edgmont Little Leagues.
  • Cost: $125.00/player, Family cap of $185.00

Newtown Edgmont Little League Registration

  • When: Fri. Jan 18 from 6-8 p.m. and Sat Jan. 19 from 10 a.m. - Noon
  • Where: Newtown Township Municipal Building 209 Bishop Hollow Rd, Newtown Square
  • Why Go: Registration for the 2013 Newtown Edgmont Little League season.
  • Cost:

An Evening with JD Malone

  • When: Saturday, Jan. 19 at 8 p.m.
  • Where: Burlap and Bean
  • Why Go: An evening with JD Malone. To listen to samples, visit www.jdmalone.com  Opening will be special guest Leo DiSanto
  • Cost: $10 cover

Potter Cup 2013

  • When: Friday, Jan. 18 from 2 - 7 p.m.
  • Where: Marple Newtown High School
  • Why Go: The Potter Cup is a challenge between Paxon Hollow Middle School and Haverford Middle School teams. The wrestling team, the boys' basketball team and the girls' basketball team play matches/games against each other to win the coveted Potter Cup. Along with being part of the school spirit and cheering on our teams, students play games, purchase food, and win door prizes all while supporting a worthy cause. Potter Cup is held to raise funds for Alex's Lemonade Stand. In the 9 years since the Potter Cup began the two schools have contributed over $246,000 to Alex’s Lemonade Stand.
