Last Chance: Tax Day, Absentee Ballots, Household Hazardous Waste Collection, NELL Opening Day

We've seen hundreds of events come and go in the community, but how often does one pass you by that you wish you hadn't missed out on? That's where we come in. Each week Marple Newtown Patch will post a quick reminder about the events, activities or important tasks whose deadlines have come.

TAX DAY

When: Tuesday, April 17.

What: The deadline to file taxes is on Tuesday. Read about the winner of our recent readers' choice poll for the best tax preparer in town here. Find the regional list of winners for best last-minute tax preparers around the area.

Where: Send in your tax returns at the U.S. Postal Service offices at the or locations.

When: Tuesday, April 17, 5 p.m.

What: The deadline for applications for absentee ballots is due Tuesday. All voted absentee ballots must be received by the county's Election Bureau by 5 p.m. Friday, April 20. Extended office hours for voting in person by absentee ballot is Saturday, April 21, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., according to the Election Bureau.

Where: Delaware County government office, located at 201 W. Front Street in Media.

 

HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE COLLECTION

When: Saturday, April 21, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

What: The county's second household hazardous waste collection will take place in on Saturday. Categories of products to take to the household hazardous waste collections include flammables, pesticides, caustics, toxics, rechargeable household batteries, lead-acid batteries and propane tanks which weigh less than 20 pounds. Residents may take oil-based paint, paint thinner, varnish, kerosene, gasoline, motor oil, antifreeze, weed killers, fungicides, items containing mercury and cell phones.

Where: Sussex Blvd. & Marpit Dr., Broomall

Cost: Free for Delaware County residents.

 

NELL OPENING DAY PARADE

When: Saturday, April 21, at 9 a.m.

What: The Newtown-Edgmont Little League will kick off its season with an annual parade on Saturday morning. The league is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year. Join in on the fun this Saturday as both the young players of NELL and older alumni celebrate this milestone.

Where: The parade will start at the former location of the Delaware County Christian School and end at NELL Field 1, located at 323 Bishop Hollow Road in Newtown Square.
