New Outdoor Farmers Market Sets Up Stalls in Newtown Square Every Thursday

Starting now through October 27, the farmers market will be open every Thursday.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–Newtown Square residents will luck out as a new farmers market just opened up down the street in Edgmont Township.

The t will be open for business on the grounds of Pennsylvania Resources Council, Inc. (PRC), on Thursdays from 3p.m. to 7p.m. starting July 14. Yes, there are other farmers markets a few towns over with the same hours, but make no mistake–the Edgmont Farmers Market is the newest nearby venue for Marple and Newtown residents to score some local produce.

In addition to local and organic fruits and vegetables, vendors also offer baked goods, jams, honey, maple syrup and coffee. Some local businesses in the Marple Newtown area include and the .

The PRC will offer information on environmental workshops it hosts, and to kick off the new farmers market, PECO Energy representatives offered free CFL light bulbs to visitors on Thursday afternoon.

Animal Friends of Lansdowne is participating in the farmers market until further notice, and is offering furry felines for adoption.

The PRC is located at 3606 Providence Road in Newtown Square, between West Chester Pike and Gradyville Road. The PRC uses a good-sized field for directed parking.
