Storm Worse Than Expected; 8 Inches of Snow Possible

A winter storm warning will remain in effect until 5 p.m. Monday.

Monday's storm was worse than expected, with many areas now expected to receive 8 inches of snow, up from the predicted 4 to 6 inches.

The snowfall was extremely heavy at times, with rates of up to 2 inches per hour, the National Weather Service said. The snowfall is expected to taper off to flurries by mid-afternoon.

A winter storm warning will remain in effect until 5 p.m. Monday. 

This snow is extremely wet and heavy, and the National Weather Service said to expect fallen limbs and power outages.

Visibility was low at the height of the storm, a quarter-mile or less at times, the NWS said.
