Delaware County Symphony Announces Appointment of Assistant Conductor

The Delaware County Symphony announced the appointment of Adam Vidiksis as Assistant Conductor.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–Based out of Newtown Square, the recently announced the appointment of Adam Vidiksis as assistant conductor to the symphony.

Vidiksis is a composer, conductor, and percussionist whose interests span from historically informed performance to the cutting edge of music technology. Born in 1979 on Staten Island, his musical studies began on the piano at age 4. He went on to attend New York University, receiving his Master's degree in music composition.

Vidiksis’ original compositions have been performed throughout the United States and abroad. Commissioned by International Composers and Interactive Artists, he composed and conducted a new work performed by the “Black Sea Symphony,” the orchestra of the Oleg Danovski National Theater of Opera and Ballet in Constanta, Romania.

Vidiksis recently was an Affiliate Artist in percussion and Adjunct Lecturer at Drew University, where he conducted the Wind Ensemble. His conducting experience also includes such ensembles as the Temple Composers Orchestra, NYU New Music Seminar Ensemble, Summit Chorale Orchestra, and the New Jersey Dance Theater Ensemble. Exceptional ensembles have performed his work, including the Momenta Quartet, the New Jersey Shakespeare Festival, and the NYU Percussion Ensemble.

His compositions have been performed in many venues, from the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium and Raven Stadium in Maryland, churches and concert halls throughout the American northeast, to the Licino Refice Conservatorio di Musica in Frosinone, Italy.

Vidiksis is very pleased to be joining the Delaware County Symphony as the orchestra's Assistant Conductor. This ensemble has long provided an exceptional opportunity for performance and been a stalwart advocate of classical music in the local community. He is excited to be a part of this distinguished group and to work under the guidance of Music Director Jeremy Gill.

Vidiksis is earning a Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in music composition at Temple University, where he has studied composition with Cynthia Folio, Maurice Wright, and Joo Won Park. He teaches classes in music theory, electro-acoustic techniques, and digital synthesis. His works are available through HoneyRock Publishing.
